Not reopening this one — the answer above is right, and we re-checked it: Meta exposes no geographic dimension on media insights at any API version, so per-post country genuinely isn't there for Instagram.
Flagging it because TikTok is the opposite case, and the use case in this thread (a video reaching a large audience in the wrong market, which looks like a win if you only see view count) applies to TikTok just as much. TikTok's Accounts (Organic) API does expose audience_countries per video, alongside full_video_watched_rate and average_time_watched. So the bar set above — "if the platform ever adds it, we will wire it up" — is already met there.
Filed separately as "TikTok: expose per-video audience countries and watch-through via the Accounts API", since it's a different platform with a different upstream answer and shouldn't ride on a closed IG thread.

Per-post country data is not something we can add, because Instagram does not expose it. GET /{ig-media-id}/insights accepts exactly two breakdown values, action_type (on profile_activity) and story_navigation_action_type (on navigation); country, city, age and gender live only on the account node, through follower_demographics and engaged_audience_demographics. We re-checked Meta's IG Media Insights reference before answering, and there is no geographic dimension on media at any API version. The closest read on your example is GET /v1/analytics/instagram/demographics?metric=engaged_audience_demographics&breakdown=country&timeframe=this_week, which returns the country split of the audience that actually engaged in the last week, so pulling it right after a video takes off tells you whether the reach landed in the wrong market. If Meta ever adds a geo breakdown to media insights, we will wire it up.

Please review this important request again, which would help every single social media expert running expert Instagram accounts through your platform.
Really important who ever runs organic content for their business.
For exmaple:
If the business is located in US and the video reached 100k but it has Indian audience.
By views logic business owner might think that it’s great video and need to do more of that.
Which would result in reaching more of audience that’s not relevant to their business.
So meaning that’s important note that would help in planing content format, etc.
