Keeping this open, because the block is on Meta's side but it is not permanent. Instagram's follow event is not in the publicly subscribable webhook fields (the Instagram webhook reference lists comments, messages, mentions and story_insights, with no follow topic), and Manychat's Follow to DM is a limited Meta beta they launched as a partner in October 2025, granted per account by Meta eligibility rather than something any app can subscribe to. We will request access to that beta and build this if Meta grants it, though we cannot commit to a date. In the meantime, the DM automation Meta does allow is already live here: comment and story-reply triggers, plus an audience follow gate on comment automations that checks whether the commenter follows you (Instagram only reveals follower status after someone has messaged the account, which we verified across production accounts on 2026-08-06, so the gate sends a one-tap confirm DM when that is unknown).
