What we're asking for: a status parameter on POST /v1/ads/create for LinkedIn that stages the campaign paused (or as a draft), the way status/campaignStatus already work for Meta.
Why this matters to us: our product stages a campaign completely, shows the customer exactly what will run and what it will cost, and then lets them press the button themselves. On Google and Meta we can do that - we create paused and the money only starts when the customer decides. On LinkedIn we can't, so we have switched our LinkedIn
campaign builder off entirely. This single gap is the only thing between us and shipping LinkedIn campaign creation to customers.
What happens today: a create goes live-after-review, and pausing before approval is rejected - measured 2026-08-28: PUT /v1/ads/{adId}/status with "paused" returns 400 "/Creative/status transition is not allowed from ACTIVE to PAUSED if /Creative/review/reviewStatus is not set to APPROVED". So there is a window where the campaign can
start delivering and we have no brake to offer the customer.
What "done" looks like for us:
- status PAUSED (or DRAFT) accepted on create for LinkedIn
- start and end date accepted on create
- total budget written on create and readable back
- campaign status and creative review status both exposed on GET, so we can verify the staged state before telling a customer it's safe
- activation from paused to active through the API once the customer approves
