Shipped for Instagram: comments made during an Instagram Live now arrive in real time as comment.received with "isLive": true, and comment automations take "trigger": "live_comment" to DM people who comment a keyword during a live. Existing accounts are subscribed to Meta's live_comments field on our side; nothing to configure. Facebook Live comments during the broadcast are not included.

Summary
Please subscribe to and forward Meta's Instagram live_comments webhook field, so comments posted during an Instagram Live broadcast reach us in realtime — the same way comment.received already delivers comments on posts and reels.
Current behavior
comment.received fires only for comments on posts and reels. Comments made during a Live broadcast are never delivered. We confirmed this three ways:
Live end-to-end test: a real Live broadcast with keyword comments from a second account produced no webhook at all (other webhooks were arriving normally at the same moment).
Your OpenAPI spec: the webhook event enum contains no live-comment event, and the spec explicitly notes "Live videos excluded".
Zernio support confirmed it. Quoting Ana: "I don't have anything on our side (dedicated live event, comment.received on live media, or a live-comments polling endpoint) that surfaces comments made during an Instagram Live broadcast, so today that's not something we deliver. Meta's live_comments is a separate realtime field from the normal comments field, which is why regular comments come through but live ones don't."
Why this is feasible
This is not a Meta limitation. Meta does expose a dedicated realtime webhook field named live_comments for Instagram Professional accounts — it is simply a separate subscription field from comments. The gap is that Zernio's app does not currently subscribe to it or surface it. Anyone already receiving comments can add live_comments as an additional field on the same subscription.
Use case & business impact
Live shopping / live commerce is the single highest-intent moment on Instagram: a viewer comments a keyword ("PRICE", "2", "SEND") during a Live and expects an instant DM with the product, price, or checkout link. Today that entire funnel is impossible through Zernio, while it works fine for normal post comments.
We run a multi-tenant Instagram automation platform. Live-comment automation is one of the most frequently requested features from our customers, specifically for live selling sessions. Right now we have to tell them it cannot be done.
Suggested implementation (either works for us)
Option A (preferred): a new event, e.g. live_comment.received, mirroring the comment.received payload.
Option B: extend comment.received to also fire for live media, with a clear discriminator in the payload (e.g. mediaProductType: "LIVE" or isLive: true) so we can route it separately.
Payload we need
Comment id, comment text, timestamp, sender (user id + username), and the live media/broadcast id — plus the ability to send a private reply / DM to the commenter, which is the whole point of the flow.
Readiness on our side
Our implementation is already built, deployed, and dormant — rule storage, keyword matching, dedup, DM delivery, and multi-step media replies are all in production and tested against the normal comment flow. We also already ship multi-signal live detection (field=live_comments, mediaProductType=LIVE, isLive). The moment the event starts arriving, the feature goes live for our customers with no further work.
Question
Is live_comments on the roadmap, and if so is there any rough timeline? Ana kindly escalated this to a teammate — happy to test against a beta/staging app whenever it is available.
